Dr. Ron Zokol graduated from the University
of British Columbia, Faculty of Dentistry in 1974. He started
his first 20 years of practice in partnership with his father,
a certified specialist in prosthodontics. In 1983, Dr. Zokol
started his career in implant dentistry and graduated from
the Misch Implant Institute in 1993.
Dr. Zokol was asked to start a surgical training
study club in Vancouver, Canada in 1992 and, in 1993, Dr. Zokol
accepted an invitation to provide one-on-one clinical instruction
for the Misch Implant Institute in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Zokol
has remained on faculty with the Misch Implant Institute providing
surgical instruction in its Toronto program. In 1996, Dr. Zokol
founded the Pacific Institute for Implant Dentistry where he
continues today as director. Today, the Pacific Institute provides
professional instruction in both implant surgery and prosthodontics
in a number of locations in North America. In 1997, Dr. Zokol
accepted a further surgical teaching position with the Canadian
Implant Institute in Montmagny, Quebec. The surgical instruction
that is provided in these surgical training programs include
bone grafting procedures (sinus elevation grafts and autologous
monocortical block grafts), implant surgery (root form and
subperiosteal implants), and soft tissue surgery. In Vancouver,
Dr. Zokol continues to provide monthly instructional programs
in advanced concepts in prosthodontics.
In 1996, Dr. Zokol was successful in the board
examinations offered by the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant
Dentistry. As such, he holds the distinguished position of
Diplomate, American Board of Oral Implantology. Other credentials
include Fellow and Diplomate of the International Congress
of Oral Implantology, Fellow of the American Academy of Implant
Dentistry (elected), Fellow of the American College of Dentists
(elected), Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International.
In 1997, Dr. Zokol was honored by the American Academy of Gold
Foil Operators and was presented with the award – Clinician
of the Year.
Dr. Zokol has made substantial contributions
to his profession. Dr. Zokol has lectured internationally since
1989 in Europe and North America. Locally, in Vancouver, Canada,
he has held a number of prominent professional positions including
the presidency for the Vancouver & District Dental Society;
Chair, General Examination Committee for the College of Dental
Surgeons of British Columbia; Chief Examiner for the College
of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia; Clinical Lecturer for
the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Dentistry, Department
of Prosthodontics.
Dr. Ron Zokol resides with his wife, Marie, & three
sons in Vancouver, Canada, where he maintains a private practice
devoted exclusively to implant dentistry.
